Advanced Urology Centers of New York (AUCNY), a Division of Integrated Medical Professionals was formed by community urologists committed to providing the highest level of medical service available. The doctors of AUCNY continue to practice in the neighborhoods they have been serving for years while affording them access to technology and services that are just not available to most medical groups. All AUCNY member physicians are board certified in their specialty and many have additional fellowship training as well. The physicians are on staff at the leading hospitals in the New York metropolitan area, are active in clinical and academic research, participate in postgraduate medical education and lecture nationally and internationally on cutting edge breakthroughs in medicine.

  • Mitchell D. Efros, MD, FACS

    Urologist

    Dr. Efros graduated New York Medical College in 1982 with honors and was elected to the Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his Urology residency at New York Medical College in 1992. He is board certified in Urology, and was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Urologic Society. In 1992, he joined UroCare Associates, a division of Integrated Medical Professionals. He is one of the founding members of Integrated Medical Professionals. Dr. Efros is an attending physician at Winthrop University Hospital. Dr. Efros has vast experience in all areas of Urology, such as; erectile dysfunction, incontinence, stone disease, and prostate disease and enlargement (BPH). He has expertise in minimally invasive procedures for various Urologic conditions. Dr. Efros is well experienced in major Urologic oncologic surgeries for malignancies of the prostate, kidney, and bladder and was one of the first Urologists in the region to become trained and perform cryoablation of the prostate. Dr. Efros has been a principal investigator in well over 100 clinical trials and is a nationally recognized clinical trials researcher and leader in this field. This experience and exposure affords Dr. Efros the ability to remain on the cutting edge of technology, new medical therapy, and product development, for a multitude of Urologic conditions. As a consequence, many patients have access to novel therapies not yet available elsewhere.

  • Louis Faiella III, MD, FACS

    Urologist

    Louis Faiella III, MD, FACS obtained his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1991. He completed his residency training through Cornell Medical College and New York Medical College for his general surgery and urologic surgery training in 1997. During his residency, Dr. Faiella was involved in many research studies and published numerous articles in peer-review journals. Dr. Faiella is board certified by the American Board of Urology, is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and has been a partner at UroCare Associates of New York, a division of Integrated Medical Professionals since 1997. Dr. Faiella practices in all areas of urologic surgery including all open major/minor, laparoscopic, cystoscopic, percutaneous and laser-based surgical procedures. As well, in-office procedures such as “No scalpel” vasectomy are available. He has a special interest in all aspects Urologic Oncologic Surgery and management and has developed expertise with Cryoablative surgical techniques. He is Director of Urologic Oncology in the Department of Urology at Winthrop University Hospital. Dr. Faiella is fluent in Italian and Spanish and lives with his wife and their two loving boys.

  • Toby F. Handler, MD, FACS

    Urologist

    Toby Handler obtained her undergraduate degree at Cornell University and her medical degree from Cornell Weill Medical College. She completed her residency training in urology at NYU Medical Center where she completed two years of general surgery and four years of urology. During her residency, she also conducted research and published numerous articles in peer-review journals. Upon completing her residency, Dr. Handler joined Urocare Associates, which is now part of Integrated Medical Professionals. Dr. Handler practices in all areas of urology but specializes in female urology and pelvic-floor reconstruction. She is Director of Female Urology in the Department of Urology at NYU – Winthrop University Hospital. Dr. Handler has done more stress incontinent procedures than any other surgeon in Long Island. She is also an expert at in-office Botox© injections and sacral nerve stimulation for overactive and neurogenic bladders. Toby Handler has been awarded the Castle Connelly Top Doctor award for the past three years. She is also fluent in Spanish and proficient in Italian and Portuguese.

  • Joseph E. Jamal, MD, FACS

    Urologist

    Dr. Joseph E. Jamal is a Board Certified urologist who practices in the Garden City area. His focus is on minimally invasive surgery, primarily treating prostate and kidney cancers, as well as kidney stone disease and BPH. He is fellowship trained in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, and has been extensively published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Jamal was born and raised in NYC. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with Honors, then went on to medical school at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He did his general surgery and urology residency training at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, where he was Chief Resident in his last year. During that time, he spent time training at Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York Presbyterian Weill-Cornell Medical Center, and Westchester Medical Center. He then went on to fellowship at George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC for specialization in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. His focus was on robotic prostate surgery, partial nephrectomy, and radical nephrectomy. He has published his research on prostate cancer, kidney cancer, reconstructive kidney and bladder surgery, kidney stone disease, radiation exposure, post-surgery pain management and erectile dysfunction. His research has been presented at national and international meetings, and he has lectured on prostate cancer, overactive bladder, and BPH. He is also involved in several ongoing clinical trials.

  • Daniel Rittenberg, MD

    Urologist

    Dr. Daniel Rittenberg is a board-certified Urologist practicing in the Garden City area. He earned his undergraduate degree at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, followed by his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He completed a General Surgery internship at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans, LA. He then went on to complete his urology residency at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Rittenberg has written numerous peer review journals, manuscripts and abstracts that have been presented at national and international meetings including the American Urologic Association annual conference and World Congress of Endourology. His special interests include minimally invasive treatment of both benign and malignant conditions of the kidneys, bladder, and prostate and treatment of female pelvic organ prolapse. He utilizes new minimally invasive techniques for treatment of BPH. He also treats both urinary incontinence and overactive bladder in men and women and can provide endoscopic management of kidney stones and tumors of the urinary tract.
